Polychrome
I painted the polychrome series hwen I was living in Mexico City. I had a studio in the Lagunilla neighborhood, the open air city market. Every day the area gets filled by traffic, crowded by people and a dense human interaction. In this scattered confusion where everything appears to be random, every person, object and gesture has a function within the vast, elusive market structure: merchants, taxis, deliverers, food carts, canteens, cafes, newsboys. Polychrome is the abstraction of Lagunilla’s market life.
